Discover First Love

Privacy,
plainly.

A story is personal. So is the act of reading it. This notice explains how Digital Placebo handles information when you visit the public site or open a private reading invitation.

The public site

Our public publishing pages primarily deliver text, images, and a small first-party interactive illustration. They do not currently provide public accounts, subscriptions, purchases, or a general manuscript upload form. The hosting service may process limited technical request information needed to serve and protect the site.

Our public website's server keeps technical access logs that can include your IP address, the pages you request, request times, browser information and referring pages. Those logs support operation, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. There is currently no configured automatic deletion period for these logs. The public pages do not currently use advertising trackers or analytics cookies.

Private reading invitations

An invitation is a limited way to enter the private Reader. The service records the invitation's validity, use, and revocation, and uses necessary security cookies to maintain a reading session. Opening an invitation is not a public account.

The invitation service keeps an identifier, an operator-assigned label that may identify its recipient, a protected digest of the invitation secret, issue and expiry dates, allowed uses, recorded openings and revocations. Sessions use necessary first-party cookies. Invitation records are not currently subject to a configured automatic deletion schedule.

Your notes

Annotations you make in the Reader are kept on your device. They are not sent to the publisher simply because you write them. If you explicitly choose to send your notes, the Reader sends the material you approved—potentially including your comments, selected passages, and timestamps—to the publisher for review. Sending notes does not remove your local copy.

You choose whether to send annotated material to the publisher. Returned notes may include your comments, selected book passages and timestamps. We currently keep them on the protected Reader host and in operational backups without an automated deletion schedule. Contact us about a particular returned note; removal requests must be evaluated against existing backup and access constraints, so we cannot promise immediate deletion from every copy.

Why we use information

To deliver pages and authorized reading sessions, protect access, respond to requests, and review notes only when a reader deliberately returns them. We do not use Reader invitations as permission to publish the reader's notes.

Choices and questions

You may stop a reading session, manage browser storage, and choose not to return annotations. To request information about data associated with your invitation or a returned note, use our verified contact channel.

For questions or requests about privacy or returned notes, email hello@aegisinside.com with 'Digital Placebo — Privacy' in the subject. Do not email invitation links or full private annotations. We may need to verify that a request concerns your own invitation or information before acting.

Changes

If how these services use information changes, we will update this notice and identify its effective date. New Author Studio or purchase features will receive disclosures appropriate to what they actually do.
